Lorraine Turner

Before her recent appointment as Manager, Northern Ireland Bureau, New York, Lorraine Turner served as Pro Consul (Northern Ireland) at the British Consulate New York. Prior to this Lorraine was employed in media and communications in the United Kingdom.
Originally from Merseyside, Lorraine attended John Moores University, Liverpool where she graduated BA (Hons) in Media and Cultural Studies. Continuing her education, Lorraine also spent time at the Institute of Irish Studies at the University of Liverpool.
As Pro Consul (Northern Ireland), Lorraine's responsibilities included identifying and developing relationships with key stakeholders, opinion forming and policy development organisations within the United States. Develop relations with media organisations that will contribute to HMG's strategic objectives in Northern Ireland. Manage specific programmes for Northern Ireland visitors to the US. Assisting and advising the Northern Ireland Bureau (Washington) on devolved issues in New York, this included introductions to Irish American business, media and academic organisations.
Lorraine was awarded an MBE in HM Queen's 2004 New Year's list for her services to the Northern Ireland Peace Process.
